To celebrate the first birthday party of our little puppy, we decided to organize a “Dog’s Birthday Party”. We invited 8 dogs together with their families and created a dessert table with goodies for dogs. Continue reading
This party theme was decided because we were in the beginning of January, in the middle of the winter, covered in snow and ice, so why not profit from this cold weather and create a party with a Frozen – Winter wonderland theme? Continue reading
Happy new year! To start 2014, we had to organize Eric’s 28th Birthday Party, this time it was difficuilt to get ideas, since we were on holidays until one week before, and he needed a theme of a grown up man, so no more disney movies themes =). Continue reading
I haven’t baked in a long time, since May 2013, I guess I’ve been to busy with moving to our new home and had no time to do any cupcakes or pop cakes or any of that stuff I love.
As Halloween is today, I thought it was a great opportunity to start baking again, I wanted to do something nice at work related to Halloween, so why not a halloween dessert table? Continue reading
I would like to share with you the result of my 25th Birthday Hawaiian Luau Party. After some weeks of preparation it happened this weekend and I am very happy with the result. I had to order most of the decoration items online, since in Luxembourg we don’t have such a big variety of party decoration stores. But with a budget of 50 Euro I could transform our small flat into a tropical paradise.
The main idea of the party was to celebrate that the sun came out in Luxembourg, so I asked our guests to come dressed with something Hawaiian and prepared some tropical cocktails with a variety of fruits. If you want to know how to make this cocktails and learn how to decorate the cups check my precious blog post: How to Make Tropical Cocktails. After the cocktails I tried to create some tropical style barbeque with many fruits and vegetables brochettes and finally we had some Hawaiian themed games such as Limbo Dance, a Hula Dance competition and a Pineapple balance competition.
I hope you enjoy the pictures, and please share your comments with me.
In this post you can find some recipies to make your own tropical cocktails for your next Hawaiian Party, all of them are made with fresh fruits and either vodka, tequila or rum.
-2 cups crushed ice
-1/2 cup of smashed strawberries
-1 cup tequila
-2 limes, juiced
-1/4 cup of sugar syroup
Combine in a blender, the strawberries, the tequila, the lime juice and sugar syrup. Strain the liquid. Refrigerate for about 2 hours. Serve together with the crushed ice.
-1 1/2 (45 ml) white rum
-2 oz (30ml) of cream of coconut
-1 slice of pineapple
-1 cup crushed ice
Pour rum, cream of coconut and pineapple into a blender. Blend until smooth, refrigerate for about 2 hours. Serve together with the crushed ice
-2 chopped cucumbers
-6 cups of water
-1/3 cup fresh lime juice
-2/3 cup sugar
-1/2 cup of Tequila
In a blender add cucumbers and water and blend until smooth. Strain the liquid. Add the lime juice, sugar, and tequila. Refrigerate for about 2 hours. Serve together with the crushed ice.
-1/4 cup water
-1/4 sugar syrup
-8 cups diced watermelon
-1/4 cup fresh lime juice
-1 1/4 cups of vodka
-2 cups of crushed ice
In a blender, add the watermelon, the sugar syrup, the lime juice and the tequila. Strain the liquid to obtain only the liquid. Refrigerate for about 2 hours. Serve together with the crushed ice.
Finally pour all the different fruit cocktails into transparent cups, I used some martini transparent plastic glasses, combine some salt and sugar in a small bowl, and pour onto a small, shallow plate. Moisten the rims of the glasses with the juice of a lime, and dip the moistened glass rims into the salt and sugar mixture. Take some of the leaves of the pineapple used for the pina colada and a piece of fruit (watermelon, strawberry, pineapple or a slice of lemon) as seen on the picture and put them into a toothpick, you can also add some paper fruits toothpicks, umbrella toothpicks or custom made themed paper toppers, also used for cupcakes.
Let me know how was the result and if you enjoyed this fruit homemade cocktails!
Nice Ideas for a Tea Bridal Shower!
With my soon-to-be sister in-law’s bridal shower being just two weeks away, I am in a frenzy trying to figure out what I’m going to do for decorations. I’ve decided on the colors – white, pale pink, hot pink and gold. Now I need to decide what I’ll be putting up. I’ve got a lot of things I want to do (too many maybe), I just need to get organized. With so many great things out there, it was hard to narrow it down to just a few things to share with you.
1. When I saw this table set up, it was love at first sight. What really got my attention was the use of the over-sized balloons, the tassel embellishments, and all those great colors. Love, I tell you, love. (source: http://thecakeblog.com/2013/02/favorite-things-birthday.html)
2. For the bridal shower I’m throwing, garden party attire is required and…
